Australian number prefixes

Every Australian number starts with a prefix that tells you what kind of line is calling — a mobile range, a state landline area code, or a national service number. Pick a prefix to see which numbers in that range Australians have reported.

Mobile prefixes (04xx)

Australian mobiles are ten digits and begin 04. Numbers port between carriers, so the prefix does not identify a network.

Landline area codes

National service numbers

1800 is freecall, 1300 and 13 are national local-rate lines, and 190x numbers are premium rate. Full cost details are in the number format guide.
