Reports on NumberCheck are written by the public, and moderation isn't perfect. If something slipped through, tell us and we will re-review it — usually within one business day, and immediately for anything involving personal information or safety.
Use the form below to flag a report. Include the number, the date and category of the report, and which rule you believe it breaks. If you are the person or business affected, say so — those cases are handled first.
What we act on
Personal information
A comment names an individual, or includes an address, workplace, email or social profile.
Defamation
A report makes a serious accusation about an identifiable person or business that cannot be substantiated.
Harassment or hate
Threats, targeted abuse, or content attacking a person or group based on who they are.
Spam or advertising
Links, promotions, referral codes, or the same comment pasted across many numbers.
Manipulation
Coordinated reporting to inflate a risk score, or an owner mass-posting “safe” reports.
Wrong number
The report clearly describes a different number, or the number was recently reassigned to you.
What happens next
- 1. Triage. Content that names an individual or looks unsafe is hidden from the page while we look at it.
- 2. Review. A moderator checks the report against our community guidelines and either restores, edits or deletes it.
- 3. Outcome. We reply with the decision. Repeat offenders lose the ability to submit reports.
Criminal matters belong with the authorities: report scams to Scamwatch, and contact your bank immediately if you have shared financial details. Our scam call guide explains the steps.
