  • Scam / fraud“Unknown but caller wanted to know how much money I wanted to borrow for a personal loan”16/09/2026

Unknown but caller wanted to know how much money I wanted to borrow for a personal loan. Sounded like AI caller however I can't confirm this. Showed up as a Western Australia number in my phone. When I attempted to return the call to gain the company information. It said the call could not be connected.

Facts about this range

  • The (08) area code covers South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory, including Adelaide, Perth and Darwin.
  • Australian landline caller ID is supplied by the calling network and can be set to almost any number, so a local-looking number is not proof of a local caller.
  • Scam operations deliberately display landline numbers from the victim's own area — a technique known as neighbour spoofing — to raise the chance the call is answered.
